Makeup for Men: Guylashes

We are no longer surprised to hear the notions guyliner and manscara, and now there have appeared guylashes. The world of beauty uses this word to call makeup products for men

The British Eylure brand has decided to help the men, who want more than just the eyeliner, and presented a new product – false eyelashes for men. A pair of guylashes should cost about 4.75 pounds ($ 6.5). Now they are sold everywhere in the UK. There are two variants of guylashes – thick and thin, and both of them are attached with the help of an invisible adhesive tape. The novelty makes its owner have a real “Hollywood look”.
It might be a new product for the Europeans, but the market in Asia is already saturated with a variety of false eyelashes. The fact is that the average eyelashes of people in Japan are only 5.8 mm long, and it is almost a half of what the Europeans have. Japanese men have long used false eyelashes. For example, in 2008 the Japan Times newspaper wrote that there were more men with false eyelashes than women at the party in honor of the Shu Uemura brand in Tokyo.
As for Europeans, the product is of great interest, and men buy false eyelashes. The owners of the shops that sell guylashes note the great popularity of the new product.

H & M Holiday Family Ad Campaign

New Year holidays and vacations are on the way, and the H&M fashion-retailer reminds of family values. The models have been photographed together with their families in the advertising campaign of H&M, which will accompany the December collection.

The family ad campaign of H&M is a rare opportunity to see Georgia May Jagger in the company of her mother, the former supermodel Jerry Hall; Kristen McMenamy and her sons, Karen Elson with her sister. The creation of an advertising campaign was on the part of the well-knownfashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. It would be interesting to have a look at the photos of the collection itself.

New Gown Collection by Vivienne Westwood at Luxury Wedding Show

A new collection of wedding gowns by Vivienne Westwood was presented at the last weekend’s first Luxury Wedding Show in London.

White classic gowns in the spirit of the dress of Parker’s heroine from “Sex and the City”, white gowns with the elements of rock, romance, and fiction. A cream gown, and she would not be Vivienne Westwood had she not created a scarlet gown!
Wedding gowns from the new collection by Vivienne Westwood are really unusual: the future bride will find here a romantic image, the image of a peasant woman, who is led to the altar by her farming father, and even quite daring gowns reaching only the knees and looking quite traditional from the back

Missoni to Create Another Affordable Collection

The success of the Missoni-Target collaboration inspired Missoni to come up with another affordable line that will be international.

The Italian fashion company that made its name on patterned knitwear started out to create low-cost clothes lines at the beginning of the fall with a 400-piece batch that hit the market at Target, a US department store chain. The pieces showed a significant drop in Missoni prices – most of them were sold at prices under $50, while a typical collection dress easily reaches over the $1,000 mark.
Fashion fans rose to the bait as one, and the batch was an instant sellout all over America, the online store also taken by storm. No wonder Margherita Missoni is all for developing on the project and is considering future collaborators for more of the same.
An interview published in the Los Angeles Times on October 30 caught the 28-year-old designer surrounded by her family (mother Angela and grandmother Rosita) weighing the possibilities. The following clothing line is expected to come out a little more pricey than the Target batch, and there’s a strong probability that Macy’s will be the department store that will take care of the American part of the sales.
As for collaborators in Europe, Missoni gave out that she has too many options to sort out “because everyone is interested,” and for the time being she is unable to arrive at a final decision – though she has little time to make up her mind!
Part of the problem lies in the fact that the future collaborator will have to deal in different categories, for that is the idea behind the oncoming collection. It was one of the success factors at Target, says the designer – if people didn’t want a top they were glad to snatch up a blanket or a glass. As Missoni puts it, people should be allowed to “put a zigzag on anything.”
For now it looks like there’ll be Macy’s for the States and some unannounced-as-yet partner in Europe.
Macy’s can already boast previous successful collaborations with a number of designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Giambattista Valli, and Matthew Williamson.

Prada Launches a Jewelry Collection

In November, Prada will launch a collection of jewelry. Unfortunately, the number of items is limited, so the women of fashion and the admirers of gemstones should hurry.

The products from the new Miuccia Prada collection are filled with femininity and refinement. The collection includes a complete set of jewelry: necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, and cufflinks. To create the new collection, Miuccia has long been experimenting with forms and materials, ranging from the skin of exotic reptiles to high-quality plastic and rubber. Different materials, so contradictory at the first glance, are creatively presented by Miuccia Prada in a very different light – they seem dazzling and flawless.

The Olsen Sisters Are More Stylish than Kate Middleton

That is this year’s decision of the Vogue magazine, on whose cover the fashion world heroines twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have made their first appearance.

The Vogue’s November special issue, the annual Best Dressed contest hails the 25-year-old Row designers as absolute winners who came firmly atop the list, leaving other fashion duos to vie for lower places – Dakota and Elle Fanning at No. 2, Beyonce and Solange Knowles coming out 7th, Pippa and Kate Middleton finishing 9th just above Rooney and Kate Mara.

The Olsen twins’ glorious progress through the fashion world began back in 2004 when they were freshmen at New York University – and they still hold they have never meant it! “We were just two California girls trying to dress for the New York winter,” they told Vogue. Seven years later they grabbed their first CFDA nomination.

Sarah Burton Is the Designer of the Year

After creating a wedding dress for Kate Middleton, the wife of the British Prince William, Sarah Burton has received universal acclaim.

Burton, a former assistant to the brilliant designer of the Alexander McQueen fashion house, has shown the world that her talent is no smaller, and there is nothing surprising in the fact that the new chief designer for the Alexander McQueen brand has received the honorary title of the “Designer of the Year.”
The British Harper’s Bazaar magazine has awarded Sarah Burton with the honorary title of the “Designer of the Year” at the ceremony of Women of the Year Awards where the most outstanding women have gathered. The only man to receive the award at the Women of the Year Awards ceremony was the American designer Tom Ford – as the “Best Man in the World of Women”. And the honorary title of the “Fashion Icon of the Year” has gone to a big number of stars of fashion business, including Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova, Yasmin Le Bon, and Cindy Crawford.

New Fashion Trend: Men Wearing Heels

It looks like men want to be as tall as tall can be – and they resort to the old device, wearing heels. But this time it’s not because they feel (and look) diminutive, and this time they won’t try to conceal it.

Gone are the days when celebs like Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, and Nicolas Sarkozy were known to wear platform footwear, the fact that they went a long way to conceal. No matter what height men stand now, they begin to go more and more for wedges, heels and knee-high boots.

For many men who just don’t make 6ft heels become a new stylish trend, and sellers don’t get surprised any more than men’s high footwear gets swiped up.
The Style magazine quotes Monica Pascarella’s remembrances of the first time she had good sales at online retailer LuisaViaRoma.com – “my boss thought I was crazy.” In the first season when Rick Owens turned out men’s heels, she had 23 pairs gone in the very first week – and the big wonder was that sizes were mainly around 44 and 45. Tall men began to care for heels!

Mr. Hare’s James Hayes seconds Pascarella’s observations, saying that their customers for Cuban heels are mostly tall men who don’t mind becoming even taller.
Women strutters, fear rivalry from men! Designer Rick Owens has powerful getups for them, like the Mohawk’ wedge that has a 9cm heel (and costs over $1,000). You can get it ankle-high or knee-high.
Manwalk 2011 was already abounding with shoes and boots embodying the new trend – by Prada, Burberry and who not. Women, get ready to walk about town with partners towering above you on their 10cm shoes!

Canvas Shoes Designed in TV Show Style

The Tauntr website has combined their favorite soap operas and the favorite sneakers in a single design project.

As a creative experiment, the famous Chuck Taylor All-Star converses have been decorated with the characters of the The Walking Dead comics and of the Breaking Bad and Dexter television series.

The fans of both TV series and converses have highly praised the project and sent lots of questions to the authors about where to buy the unusual sneakers. But so far, the movie sneakers are just a fake and a creative experiment of the Tauntr Editors.
The design of the sneakers is gaining popularity in the network. Not so long ago, the brand sneakers were popular due to the images presented in the social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, YouTube, Google Buzz, and Flickr.

Donatella Versace Doesn’t Want to Create Clothes for Ordinary Women

The democratic H&M brand is famous for its army of fans all over the world, and it is not surprising as the brand offers a wide selection to the customers of all incomes, ages and sizes. However, the new “employee” of the brand, designer Donatella Versace, does not seem to agree to the company’s policy.

Thus, the designer did not approve of the “ordinary” ladies, selected for the presentational shooting of the Versace for H&M line. But the rejected models, whose “sizes”, by the way, are not so impressive as to exceed the boundaries of “the sixth American”, were (and now they surely “were”) great fans of Donatella!
Versace’s action was immediately commented upon by the fashion editors of all glossy magazines. They agreed that if to judge by Donatella’s preferences, the designer is no better than her male colleagues, and to sew for “real” women is the level of excellence, which Donatella doesn’t seem to have reached yet.

Coco Rocha Launches a Jewelry Collection

Coco Rocha is a woman of multifaceted talents. She is a top model, a talented Irish dancer, a TV presenter, and now she has become a jewelry designer.

The new line of jewelry is called Coco Rocha for Senhoa. Senhoa is an organization that helps people of Cambodia, whose civil rights and democratic freedoms have been violated.
The supermodel says that the idea of cooperation with Senhoa came suddenly, when she met with Lisa, one of the founders of the organization, at the wedding of her sister one year ago.
Lisa told Coco a terrible story about how they had been saving young girls from the slave trade. After everything had ended successfully, the girls made and gave Lisa jewelry. Coco Rocha was so impressed by this story that she immediately decided to help the organization. The slogan of the new collection was “Decorate your conscience.”

As a result, a collection of jewelry appeared, consisting of seven elements: two pairs of earrings, two bracelets, one necklace and two jewelries for body piercing. The entire jewelry set will cost from $60 to $195. The collection contains many elements resembling chains and spikes as an aesthetic expression of sympathy for oppressed people. It is worth saying that the jewelry collection is very good for a beginner.
